Shanco delivered a £1m enabling works and groundworks package at St. George’s Hospital, Tooting, supporting a new modular MRI unit in a highly constrained live hospital environment. Works included investigation and service diversion for a live HV cable, CFA piling and off-site prefabricated pile caps/beams, and a 600m² reinforced slab, delivered ahead of programme with minimal disruption.
Shanco delivered a £500k full groundworks package for a new care home facility at Sandbeck Way. Works included bulk earthworks, foundations, drainage, hard landscaping and Section 278 works. Careful programming and close coordination on a confined site allowed key early works, such as the attenuation tank installation and car park tarmac, to be completed quickly, supporting the wider construction programme.
Shanco delivered first-phase groundworks for a 66-bedroom care home in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, transforming a flood-susceptible disused site into a raised, build-ready platform. Works included earthworks, CBR testing coordination, raising levels by over 1m with clean stone, installing 231 steel piles, reinforced ground beams, drainage, and an attenuation tank, delivered through careful planning and seamless coordination with other trades.
Northmoor Academy in Central Oldham, Manchester, undertook a significant project to build a new 3FE (Three-Form Entry) primary school, accommodating 630 pupils. Shanco played a pivotal role in completing all groundworks and civil engineering infrastructure for the innovative modular Academy.

When it comes to modular prison accommodation, solid groundworks are essential—just as they would be for a permanent structure. Skimping on the groundwork can lead to major structural problems, delays, and increased costs down the line. To get it right, careful planning and expert execution are key.
