About the Role
Shanco Contracts is looking to recruit Site Engineer, to work on a variety of different groundworks packages covering first phase, through to externals and hard landscaping. With a focus on professionalism, teamwork, and adaptability, we work across diverse sectors including Ministry of Justice (MOJ), Care homes, Educational facilities, and new build Hospitals.
Based in Garforth, Leeds, West Yorkshire
Main Responsibilities
Operations
● Undertake accurate setting out for assigned projects
● Compile level surveys before, during and after works, as appropriate
● Supporting Site Supervisors calculating quantities for site deliveries
● Carry out on-site material takeoffs and assist supervisor with ordering
● Quantify all materials and ancillary items as required
● Ensure all survey and setting out equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
● Compile and maintain as built drawings
● Assist in preparing quality documentation and records for the project
● Maintain up – to -date construction drawings on Shanco BMS
● Liaise with Client teams to obtain essential construction information (eg setting out data,
coordinates)
● Raise RFI’s (Request for Information) where details are missing and unclear
● Communicate clearly and regularly with your Line Manager and Site Supervisor
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
● Assist and advise the HSEQ Team with Health and Safety matters on site
● Advise on RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) and ensure alignment with
site methodology
● Promote safe working practices and remain aware of Health and Safety risks on site
● Ensure operations align with site-specific RAMS and environmental procedures
Coordination & Planning
● Plan and coordinate work in line with pre-start specs, RAMS and programme schedules
● Support the supervisor with maintain site records, such as diaries and marked-up drawings
● Liaise with the Quantity Surveyor to ensure scope of works, pricing and cost allowances are
fully understood and that variations are recorded appropriately
