Continuing Shanco’s long history of delivering within the care sector, we were appointed to complete a £500k full groundworks package as part of the construction of a new care home facility at Sandbeck Way.
This project also reflects one of Shanco’s strongest differentiators: trusted, long-term partnerships. We’ve worked with this customer for over 15 years across a range of schemes, developing an excellent working relationship built on professionalism, teamwork and reliable delivery.

The Brief
Shanco was responsible for delivering the full groundworks scope to support the wider construction programme. Our works included:
- Bulk earthworks
- Foundation works
- Drainage installation
- Hard landscaping
- Section 278 works
The Challenge
The key constraint on this project was the confined site environment. With limited space available for access, storage and sequencing, careful programming was essential to keep works moving and reduce disruption to the wider build.
To protect programme and improve access early, the team needed to complete major enabling tasks before the full site accommodation and setup arrived, requiring a clear plan, efficient logistics and close coordination with the wider project team.
How Shanco Delivered
To make best use of space and support smooth site operations, Shanco prioritised critical early works, completing the bulk earthworks and progressing key infrastructure items at the outset. This included:
- Installing the attenuation tank
- Laying tarmac in the car park early to improve access and working conditions
By working closely with key members of our supply chain and coordinating daily activity around restricted space, Shanco delivered a high volume of work within a short timeframe. This helped the groundworks package progress quickly, supporting a more efficient overall programme for the client.
The Outcome
Through proactive planning, collaborative delivery and a focus on doing things the right way, Shanco successfully delivered the groundworks package at Sandbeck Way, helping unlock improved access, smoother sequencing and strong momentum for the build programme.
