Shanco were recommended to Wates Construction, for this project, by the Consultant Engineer, BJB and following negotiations were awarded the contract in July 05.
The package was to construct a 3 storey reinforced concrete frame of approx 1800m2. Due to the limited working area around the site, Shanco prefabbed the formwork and reinforcement off-site.
These materials were then delivered to site at regular intervals and lifted directly into the place of work by 50T mobile crane.
This, combined with design changes recommended to the Engineer by Shanco, had significant effects on the programme reducing it by 20%.
