As a company Shanco's total commitment to Health & Safety is unwavering and has led to their inclusion on a number of preferred contractors lists. They have invested heavily over the past two years to ensure that all site operatives and management are aware of, and can counteract, the risks involved in the construction industry.

In collaboration with senior management, Shanco's Health & Safety manager ensures that:

  • 100% of their operatives, including management have CSCS cards and have attended a health & safety awareness course.
  • Toolbox talks are carried out on a regular basis on every contract.
  • All plant operators have CITB certification.
  • All plant is regularly PAT tested.
  • Site specific method statements, risk assessments, COSSH assessments and Noise/Vibration assessments are prepared for every on-site operation.
  • Weekly safety reports are carried out for every site.
  • They work closely with the customerĂ­s safety advisor to ensure that operatives are made aware of the overall safety requirements of each site.
  • Environmental risks are considered for each job.

Such is their dedication to site Health & Safety, Shanco Construction has had no reportable accidents/incidents under HSE legislation in the last four years.
